These beads are a real find. They haven't seen sunlight in decades. We looked around the net, and ebay, and it seems these beads are anywhere from the turn of the century (last one, not this one) up to the 1920's - 1930's. These are Italian 9/0 seed beads in a mix. It started as a two kilo (almost 4.5 pounds) package, wrapped with twine.
Inside were two smaller wrapped parcels, each with two master hanks, each weighing half a kilo (1.1 pound). The packaging is so different than the Czech beads that we're used to, vintage or new.
The hanks aren't tied together either. There's a thick string twisted around the strands, and that string is very rough, like sisal. We guess it was wet when it was put on the strand and then when it dried it keeps its' shape.
Bottom line is that this single hank of 9/0 glass seed beads in a rainbow mix from Italy. The title states "New Vintage Hank". This isn't a typo. These hanks are indeed vintage, but since they've been sealed in their original packaging for a number of decades, they are also new.
The hank has ten strands that measure twenty inches long. With about 18 beads per inch, and 200 inches of beads, that's a whopping 3,600+ beads!!!!
